The length of the coast of Antalya, which is the most important tourism center of Turkey, including indentations and protrusions, is 640 km and a straight line is 500 km. Due to the steep descent of the mountains to the sea on the western coast of Antalya, the sea is deep and the beaches are not continuous. However, there are natural beaches with good possibilities on the coasts of Kemer, Tekirova, Kumluca, Finike, Demre and Kaş. In addition, Beldibi beaches, Göynük beaches and the beaches from Kemer, Tekirova, Olympos and Gelidonya Cape to Xanthos have all the natural elements necessary for tourism. Konyaaltı and Reşat Island beaches are also located to the west of Antalya. In the eastern part of the province, the mountains extending parallel to the sea created a plain between the mountains and the sea; Thus, there have been magnificent beaches made of fine sand, starting from Antalya to Side and Gazipaşa. Lara, Karpuzkaldıran, Belek, Kundu beaches are among the beaches in the east of Antalya.
There are many Blue Flag awarded beaches in Antalya. (The Blue Flag is a campaign carried out by the European Environmental Education Foundation (EEE) since 1987, aiming to improve the cleanliness of sea and lake waters, the order of the coasts, and the quality of beach services.) It is carried out by the Turkish Environmental Education Foundation, a member of the Foundation.
As a result of the efforts to prevent environmental pollution, the number of Blue Flags in our province increased to 216 (203 beaches – 5 marinas – 8 yachts) in 2019. In addition to the fine sandy natural beaches and bays with beautiful views in Antalya, the sea season, which continues in March-December with the suitable climate and sea water temperature, increases the tourism potential of the region. There are a total of 491 blue flags, 459 of which are beaches, 22 marinas and 10 yachts throughout our country, and more than half of the Blue Flag awarded beaches are located within the borders of our province.
